Srinagar: General officer Commanding (GoC) of Srinagar-based army’s 15 Corps, Lieutenant General DP Pandey Tuesday said that people of the valley need to be aware of the white-collar militants and should question them for motivating youth to join militant ranks while dreaming big for their own children.

Pandey was speaking to media men on the side-lines of artificial limb camp held in Srinagar during which a total of 348 wheelchairs, 91 crutches, 480 hearing aids, 93 artificial legs, and 13 artificial hands were distributed among the physically disabled persons.

“I don’t see the need of doing anything to win the hearts of people of Kashmir since they have a lot of confidence in army’s 15 Corps (Chinar Corps) and we have achieved that level,” he said. He, however, said that there is a very small group of people who try to misguide youth.

Referring to Dr Mudasir Gul, one among four persons killed in Hyderpora encounter, GoC said that how a person was operating a fake call centre in Srinagar and earning huge money to live a lavish life while luring others towards militancy.

“A common man can’t make such an office at a location like Hyderproa as it is possible for only those who make money illegally and encourage people to become militants besides misleading youth,” the GoC said. (KNO)
