Srinagar: Anti Corruption Bureau on Monday said that it trapped and arrested a Village Level Worker of Block Soibugh, Budgam for accepting bribe in lieu of signing the authority of works under MGNREGA.

ACB in a statement said that it had received a complaint that Reyaz Ahmad Mir, Village Level Worker (VLW), of Block Soibugh, Budgam was demanding Rs 2000 as bribe from the complainant in lieu of signing the authority of works under MGNREGA.

A case (FIR No. 36/2021 PS ACB Srinagar U/S 7 PC Act 1988) was registered, and a trap team constituted, which caught the Accused VLW red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe money from the complainant in presence of independent witness.

It said the VLW had earlier also demanded and accepted bribe money and was now demanding fresh bribe from the complainant. He was arrested and taken into custody by ACB team.
