J&K reports 3 COVID-19 deaths, 108 fresh infections

India records 10,229 fresh Covid infections, 125 related deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 108 COVID-19 cases and three fatalities due to the disease on Monday, taking the infection tally to 3,34,288 and the death toll to 4,453, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, 89 were from Kashmir and 19 from Jammu division of the union territory, they said.

The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest number of 40 new cases, followed by Baramulla with 19.

Officials also said 103 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 93 from Kashmir and 10 from Jammu division in the last 24 hours.

There were 49 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the union territory now, the officials added.

On vaccination, the media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 70,614 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K so far to 1,58,73,618.

According to the bulletin, out of 3,34,288 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 1,517 active positive cases across J&K including 1,294 in Kashmir and 223 in Jammu division, while as 3,28,318 persons have recovered so far and 4,453 have died – 2,274 in Kashmir and 2,179 in Jammu division.

Meanwhile india’s Covid tally rose to 3,44,47,536 with 10,229 more people testing positive for coronavirus, while the active cases have declined to 1,34,096, the lowest in 523 days, according to the Union Health Ministry’s data updated on Monday.

The death toll reached 4,63,655 after 125 new fatalities were reported, the data updated at 8 am showed.

The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 38 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 141 consecutive days now.

The active cases have declined to 1,34, 096 comprising 0.39 percent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.26 percent, the highest since March 2020, the Health Ministry said.

A decrease of 1,822 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.12 percent. It has been less than 2 percent for the last 42 days.

The weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 0.99 percent. It has been below 2 percent for the last 52 days, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,38,49,785, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.35 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 112.34 crore.
