NIA arrests two Sopore residents in militancy case

‘27 persons arrested in the case so far’

Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested two more persons in connection with militancy “conspiracy” case.

NIA in a statement said that the accused Rashid Muzaffar Ganaie and Nasir Mir, both residents of Sopore were held in case RC-29/2021/NIA/DLI.

The case, it said relates to “conspiracy both physically and in cyberspace for undertaking violent terrorist acts in J&K and other major cities including New Delhi, by cadres of terrorist organisations Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al Badr and similar other outfits and their affiliates such as the Resistance Front (TRF), People Against Fascist Forces (PAFF) etc”.

“The terrorist and cadres have effected several terrorist acts including killings of numerous innocent civilians and security personnel, unleashing a reign of terror in the valley of Kashmir, thereby challenging the writ of the state,” the NIA statement said.

NIA had registered the case as RC 29/2021/NIA/DLI) on October 10 after a spate of civilian killings in the Valley and initiated the investigation. A total of 27 persons have been arrested in the case so far.

“Preliminary investigation has revealed that arrested accused persons are terror associates/OGWs of various proscribed terrorist organisations and have been providing logistical and material support to terrorists,” NIA statement said.

It said further investigation in the case is going on.
