J&K logs 138 new Covid cases, two deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 138 fresh cases of coronavirus on Tuesday, taking the infection count to 3,33,325, while two related deaths were reported from the Union territory in the past 24 hours, officials said.

Of the new cases, 106 were reported from Kashmir and 32 from the Jammu division, while the two deaths were reported from Kashmir Valley, the officials said.

They said Srinagar district recorded a maximum of 59 new cases, followed by 16 cases in Budgam district.

Moreover, 102 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 93 from Kashmir and nine from Jammu division in the last 24 hours, officials said.

The officials also said the mucormycosis (black fungus) tally in the UT remained unchanged at 49 as no fresh case was reported.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 77,682 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to 1,53,35,023.

According to the bulletin, out of 3,33,325 positive cases detected cumulatively so far, currently there are 1,199 active positive cases across the UT including 1,041 in Kashmir and 158 in Jammu division, while as 3,27,681 persons have recovered and 4,445 have died – 2,268 in Kashmir and 2,177 in Jammu division.
