ASHA workers are indispensable part of health system: CPI(M)

Jammu: While terming ASHA workers role, who essentially act as the backbone of the health structure in rural areas, as indispensable, CPI(M) Regional Secretary Jammu Sham Prasad Kesar accused the Government of utterly neglecting these scheme workers and demanded the release of incentives pending since last many months in Jammu region.

He urged the government to release their pending incentives and demanded payment of Rs. 10,000/- as fixed wages + 50 percent bonus on incentives, providing of smartphones for reporting their activities, providing of weightage of work experience in the recruitment of Nursing Orderly.

He urged the government for timely settlement of the issues and resolution of genuine demands.

He said that ASHAs work in rough terrains of rural areas tirelessly and selflessly, despite all the difficulties they are confronted with. But the Government has totally neglected them. “These poor workers are without wages, resulting in immense hardships for them. They have to feed their families, but despite working hard, they are not paid their hard-earned wages on time.”

“We hope not only the incentives of these employees are released immediately, but their other genuine demands are also fulfilled at the earliest,” he added.
