NC, PDP, PC greet people on Diwali

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah have greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, hoping the festival will be celebrated with traditional harmony, enthusiasm and brotherhood.

In his message, the party president wished prosperity and happiness to its people. He highlighted the spirit of celebrating festivals in an atmosphere of amity and brotherhood and called for strengthening this tradition. “Such festivals showcase the cultural diversity and plurality of J&K, I hope the day increases the prospects of peace, and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir in particular and the world in general. I wish people a very happy Diwali, hoping they will celebrate their happiness with the have-nots,” he said.

In a separate message, Party Vice President Omar Abdullah said, “May this Diwali strengthen the bond of brotherhood and communal harmony in J&K. I wish people a very Happy Diwali, hoping that the day augurs well for everlasting peace and prosperity in J&K.” He stressed on the need for strengthening harmony and brotherhood in the glorious traditions of J&K’s pluralistic ethos.

Meanwhile, Party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Party Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Provincial Presidents Nasir Aslam Wani, Rattan Lal Gupta, Party MPs, media cell, minority wing, YNC, legal cell, and Women’s Wing functionaries have also greeted people on the auspicious day.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president & former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti felicitated people on the occasion of Diwali wishing them peace, happiness and well-being.

In her message of greetings on the eve of Deepawali, Mehbooba hoped that the Festival of Lights would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“While celebrating festivals, we must remember the poor and needy and share joy with them. We have a rich tradition of celebrating festivals in amity and brotherhood, in consonance with our unique multicultural ethos,” she said.

“On this auspicious occasion I wish and pray that all good values of love, compassion, tolerance, mutual respect and brotherhood become the hallmark of our society to take forward the State on the path of progress, prosperity and lasting peace,” she added.

The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference President Sajad Gani Lone has extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, hoping the festival will be celebrated with traditional harmony, enthusiasm and brotherhood.
