Srinagar: A non-local labourer died of ‘asphyxiation’ in south Kashmir’s Shopian  district on Tuesday while two others are undergoing treatment in hospital, news agency KNT reported.

The report while quoting police sources reported that the trio including two non-locals from Uttar Pradesh were brought to a health facility in Zainapora Shopian in unconscious state.

The sources identified the trio as 20-year-old Ansar Ahmed and 22-year old Azim Jan from UP and Ubaid Bashir Parra, a local from Homehana village of Nagbal Shopian. The three were working at a local workshop.

Ansar, as per the sources, died while two others were shifted to District Hospital Anantnag. The cause of death and unconscious state of two labourers is being ascertained.

Sources however, said that prima facie asphyxiation seems to be the cause of the death of the non-local labourer.

Police have registered a case and taken up the investigation in this regard.
