Div Com issues directions for early handover of land to AAI

Jammu: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Raghav Langer today chaired a meeting of the concerned officers to review the progress on demarcation of land for development of new terminal at Jammu Airport.

Pertinently, the runway at the Jammu Airport has been expanded and the 30% load penalty at Jammu airport has been removed. It will bring huge relief to the airlines and passengers. The government has decided to build a new airport terminal adjacent to the existing airport at Jammu.  The land measuring 974 Kanal has already been identified. It will soon be handed over to the Airports Authority of India to build a state-of-the-art 25,000 Sqm new terminal building.

The Div Com discussed in detail about the identified land shifting of government offices etc.

It was informed that major land around 877 Kanals of the Animal Husbandry Department will be acquired for the new terminal for which the Div Com directed the Joint Director Animal Husbandry and PWD to make assessment of structures and share the final cost of the same.

The Div Com also directed the Animal Husbandry Department to immediately shift the animals and other office buildings to other alternative locations. The Deputy Commissioner Jammu was asked to demarcate the land and handover the same to Airport authorities so that work can be executed on New Airport terminal smoothly.

The DC Jammu informed that 144 kanal land at Nagrota has already been allotted to Animal Husbandry Department for relocation of offices and poultry.

The Div Com directed the DC Jammu to resolve the land issues, if any and ensure the total land is handed over to Animal Husbandry Department for establishment of their assets.

Meanwhile, the Div Com also reviewed the alignment of Delhi Katra Expressway stretch from Satwari to 4th bridge. The expressway is to be constructed from Delhi to Katra via Kunjwani and Satwari Chowk to Bhagwati Nagar 4th Bridge to link it with the Jammu Akhnoor Road project.

The Project Director NHAI informed that the existing old PWD road is being widened as a 4 lane Highway for which the work has been allotted. It was informed that the NHAI will provide an elevated corridor to connect Satwari Chowk to the Terminal for smooth execution of work on the new airport terminal.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anshul Garg; Director Airport Authority Jammu, VC JDA, Chief Engineers of PWD, Irrigation and Flood Control, Joint Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Project Director NHAI,  ADC, Jammu and other concerned officers.
