Dir Agri Kashmir reviews implementation of CSSs in Anantnag, Kulgam

Srinagar: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal, today reviewed the implementation of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs) and flagship programs in the twin districts of Anantnag and Kulgam.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director said that the agriculture sector is changing globally and in this changing scenario an innovative approach is needed to reach to the farmers and address their issues. He said farming is now gaining ground in all the sections of the society and the need of the hour is to modify strategy in consonance with the prevailing circumstances.

Addressing the officers of twin districts, the Director said that taking into consideration one of the best agro-climatic conditions for vegetable cultivation, we have to focus on bringing more and more area under the cultivation of vegetable crops including both traditional and exotic varieties.

He asked for farmer-friendly ideas from the officers so that they could be considered while planning the policies for the development and prosperity of farmers.

While highlighting the role of the Enforcement Wing of the Department, the Director instructed the concerned officers of the wing to work with more commitment and seriousness so that the farmers interests could be served in a more effective manner.

The meeting reviewed scheme-wise achievements and implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes of the Department.

It was informed that different schemes including Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna, National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture, National Mission of Agriculture Extension and Technology, National Food Security Mission, Soil Health Card Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Seenchayee Yojana, PM-Kissan and others currently being implemented by the Department to facilitate farmers.

Chief Agriculture Officer Kulgam Farooq Ahmad Dandroo and other senior officers of district Anantnag/Kulgam were also present during the meeting.
