Shikara rally held at Dal Lake to celebrate birth anniversary of Sardar Patel

Srinagar: The famous Dal Lake today witnessed a grand Shikara rally which was organized to commemorate birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as part of ‘Azaadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’.

The Shikaras were traditionally decorated which passed through several scenic spots of Dal lake giving a complete festive look to the ‘Lake of Flowers’.

The rally, which was held under the banner ‘Azadi ka Amrut and Celebrating National Unity Day’, was flagged off by Director, Tourism Kashmir, Dr G N Itoo.

Speaking to the media, Director said that holding of this rally in the prominent urban lake holds a special significance towards tourism development as ‘Dal Jheel is integral to tourism and recreation in Kashmir; popularly known as “Srinagar’s Jewel”’.

Director said that that the government is dedicatedly working towards taking J&K high in the world of tourism through launch of numerous innovative measures in this regard. He added that it is being ensured that all stakeholders are involved in tourism development programmes for effective outcome. “Such kinds of events are being organized frequently in the Valley by the administration which has not only entertained the audience but is immensely helping towards tourism development here,” he maintained.
