Jammu: The ongoing anti-militancy operation in the forests of twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri entered fifteenth day Friday, however there was no contact with the militants, officials said.

They said the searches are on in the dense woods of Nar Khas in Bhata Dhurian village and adjoining areas in Mendhar, where four Army personnel were killed during a gunfight on October 14.

The operation continued for the 15 consecutive day with army and police teams jointly conducting the manhunt of militants. However, there seems no headway in the operation as no fresh footprint of militants was found inside forests, news agency KNO quoted the officials as saying.

“On Friday, there was a complete lull in the area with no fresh gunfire heard from the area,” the news agency quoted locals as saying, adding that the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch national highway continued to remain closed for 15th day on Friday between Bhimber Gali and Jarran Wali Gali. (KNO)
