Shailendra Kumar reviews implementation of development schemes in Anantnag

Anantnag: Principal Secretary, Public Works Department, Shailendra Kumar, today reviewed progress on implementation of various development schemes in the district.

Principal Secretary, who has been nominated as mentor for Anantnag district, took stock of achievements recorded in the district under various centrally sponsored and state sector schemes. He asked the concerned officers to ensure that all ongoing works are completed before onset of winter season. He laid focus on efficient utilization of lean months for detailed preparation of development plans for the next year so that execution of projects could be resumed in April without delay.

Shailendra had a detailed review of implementation of MGNREGA, CAPEX, JJM, AMRUT, PMDP, JKIDFC, PMGSY, NABARD and other related schemes.

Officials from R&B, PDD, Jal Shakti, Health, Horticulture, Agriculture and other allied departments participated in the meeting and presented their progress.

Shailendra Kumar, while assessing progress under Jal Jeevan Mission in the district, was informed about several obstacles being faced by the department in smooth implementation of the scheme. He asked the officials to ensure that project execution timelines are followed strictly so that the deadline of 15th August, 2022 for providing tap water for all can be met.

Principal Secretary also deliberated on the importance of minimizing power disruptions in winter which causes inconvenience to the public. He directed officials from PDD to work in a total planned and organized manner to ensure that adequate power supply is ensured to all consumers. He also asked officials from Mechanical Engineering to ensure snow clearance machinery is kept ready for deployment with availability of required staff. He suggested for seeking services of private machinery to augment departmental resources in this regard.

Officers from Horticulture department informed the Principal Secretary that they are in the process of assessing damages to orchards due to the recent incessant rains and snowfall so that compensation is disbursed at the earliest.

Reviewing implementation of PMFBY, Shailendra impressed upon Agriculture department to give wide publicity to the scheme highlighting its benefits in detail.

Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Piyush Singla, informed the Principal Secretary that execution of district Capex plan is underway. He said that district has already generated 19.77 Lakh person days under MGNREGA, much ahead of its target.

Principal Secretary, while reviewing road connectivity in the district, laid stress on early completion of Mehdi Kadal Bridge to reduce traffic congestion on inner town roads.

Later, a delegation of PRI members led by DDC Chairman, MY Gorsi, called on Principal Secretary and put forth several demands and problems. Their issues included early completion of tendered projects, forest clearances for road connectivity, installation of solar lights, coaching facility for competitive exams and related demands.

Principal Secretary assured the delegations of timely redressal of their grievances.

With regard to coaching facility, he directed the district administration to make provision of online coaching for competitive examinations.

Another delegation of Municipal Councilors also met the Principal Secretary and raised several demands such as development of multilevel car parking in Anantnag, RTC complex, widening of road near KP Chowk besides asking for saluting to problem of flash floods in Ashmuqam.

Principal Secretary informed the Councilors that the government is focusing on early completion of all projects under progress.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Anantnag, CPO, CMO, CAO, CAHO, SEs and Executive Engineers of R&B, PDD and Jal Shakti and other officials.
