Officials said that during the two days visit to the region, the president arrived in Leh on Thursday and performed Sindhu Darshan at Leh in Shey village while in the evening he traveled to Jammu and Kashmir.

In Jammu and Kashmir, officials said that the president arrived in Udhampur at the northern command headquarters of the Indian army and interacted with the forces and officials of all ranks along with their families.

Kovind also extended wishes to them on the occasion of Dussehra.

Officials also said that the president paid floral tribute to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the former president of India on his birth anniversary at the Northern Command headquarters of the Indian army in Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir.

Official sources further said that the president arrived at the Kargil war memorial on the scheduled visit.

“The president laid a wreath and paid homage to the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice defending the nation at Kargil,” officials said.

On Kargil Vijay Diwas 2021, the President canceled a visit to Drass, where he was scheduled to lay a wreath at the war memorial, due to bad weather.
