Samoon inspects construction work of Govt Polytechnic College Ramban

Ramban: Principal Secretary Skill Development, Dr. Asgar Samoon, today inspected the progress of ongoing construction work on Government Polytechnic College Ramban at Chanderkote.

He also visited the Industrial Training Institute, Banihal.

Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, Joint Director Technical Education Jammu, Farooq Ahmed Khan, Principal GPC, Ramban, Suket Gupta and various concerned officers present on the occasion.

After inspecting construction work of Government Polytechnic College, Ramban, the Principal Secretary directed the construction agencies and Principal of college to complete construction work of Academic Block on priority basis to start class in the new building.

He also reviewed the plan of power and water supply for the institution. He was informed that there is a proposal to construct a dug well to meet water requirements of the institution.

He directed the Principal of the college to submit a proposal for constructing a Hostel and Bus facility for both girls and boys students.   He also reviewed the status of staff strength of all technical institutions in the district.

While deliberating upon the admission process, the Principal Secretary emphasized upon 100 per cent utilization of seats during the current academic session by way of wide publicity through print and electronic media.

Earlier, Dr. Samoon also visited ITI Banihal and inspected trades and workshops there.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner apprised the Principal Secretary about issues hindering the pace of progress on construction work of Polytechnic College, Ramban besides assuring him about resolving all bottlenecks on priority bases to complete ongoing project besides starting construction work of new building of ITI, Ramban.

The Principal Secretary said that the Technical Education department is trying to attract the youth here for technical training so that they can start their own business units besides taking jobs in various ongoing national projects. He also informed that the Government is working to introduce new job oriented courses in the institution of Technical Education.

Principal Secretary also advised the youth to undergo training at Polytechnic Colleges and ITIs in available disciplines to fetch better career avenues. He said that Polytechnic Colleges in the UT have a state of art infrastructure and youth are being trained as per industry needs.
