Jal Shakhti Dept employee injured in bear attack in Narvaw Baramulla

Baramulla: A Jal Shakti Department employees was critically injured in a bear attack at Paldaji Badmulla in Narvaw area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on sunday morning.

Family members of the injur employee said that Anayatullah Kandal son of Ghulam Qadir Kandal (35) of Paldeji Badmulla of Baramulla was critically injured in bear attack when he was on way to attend his duty at Sultanpora Baramulla.

“The bear pounced on him at Baldji Budmulla forest area when he was on the way to attend his duty at Kandi Sultanpora. “He is a daily wager employee in PHE department,” they said.

Hospital sources said that he has sustained critical injuries on head and he is undergoing treatment at Government Medical College Baramulla.

Villagers alleged that such incidents are being reported on regular basis and orchards have been totally destroyed by wild bears, monkeys and wildlife department have not taken any step in this regard.

Range Officer Wildlife Department Baramulla Altaf Koul said that presence of the wild animal had off late created much panic among the local inhabitants in the area besides damaged the apple orchards.

“A team of officials has been sent to the area. We have installed several cage at several other places to trap the roaming beasts. Besides compensation case of the injured employee would be taken on priority,” he said.
