Baramulla: General Officer Commanding of Army’s 15 Corps, Lt General DP Pandey on Sunday said those involved in recent civilian killings in Kashmir want to trigger a communal divide in the Valley and people would expose these elements.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, according to the news agency, Kashmir News Observer(KNO), the GOC said the people of Kashmir would themselves find out those involved in these killings.

“These killings are condemnable and I am hopeful that Kashmiri society will find out those behind these killings and would expose these people who want to create a communal divide in Kashmir,” he said.

He said the people of Kashmir, irrespective of their religion, would stand together and expose these elements. “I believe that there is no difference between Sikhs, Muslims, or Hindus of the Kashmir valley and will stand together to expose them,” he said.

The GOC said these elements are frustrated by positive developments taking place in Kashmir.

“A lot of activities are taking place in the Kashmir valley for the past one year and the enemies of peace are not happy with all the happenings in the positive direction”, he said. “The enemies of Kashmiri people and the peace are not happy with this and that is why all this is being done.”

Responding to questions from mediapersons, the GoC said the Line of Control (LoC) is absolutely secure and there was no need to worry about it.

The GoC was in Baramulla to attend an event of Parivar school in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

He said they want children to be independent and contribute towards society and the Parivar school Baramulla will be equipped with modern system for the benefit of students—(KNO)
