Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways visits Kulgam

Kulgam: Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways, Darshana Vikram Jardosh, today visited district Kulgam as part of the ongoing public outreach programme of the Union Government.

On the occasion, the Minister took part in a series of events and activities that witnessed the participation of public officials and delegations.

She also inaugurated developmental projects and interacted with multiple public delegations, members of Panchayat Raj Institutions, SHG members, tribal delegations youth clubs and entrepreneurs among others.

The Minister, during her visit to the Employment and Counselling Centre, distributed vehicles among beneficiaries under the MUMKIN scheme.

At Mini-stadium Kulgam, the Minister inaugurated inter-zone district level competition for girls in badminton, table tennis, tug of war and rope skipping.

The Minister applauded the young and energetic players for their enthusiastic participation in sports. While speaking on the occasion, she highlighted the measures and initiatives taken by the Government headed by the Prime Minister to promote sports culture across the country.

The Minister also interacted with members of Self Help Groups and entrepreneurs who shared their successes stories. She stressed upon these members to give extensive marketing reach of their products by registering on GeM portal and other business sites.

The Minister also met also several public delegations including members of tribal community, members of Youth club, Gujjar Bakerwal delegations and other delegations who projected their demands. These members also extended their gratitude to Prime Minister for initiating such extensive outreach programme to listen to the people.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the purpose of the visit is to assess the needs and requirements of the people.

She added that Prime Minister is focused to make Jammu and Kashmir a prosperous and developed place and has taken several measures and initiatives for welfare of people.

Present on the occasion were Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din- Bhat, RTO Kashmir Sajid Yehya Naqash, SSP GV Sandeep and other officers.

Besides DDC Chairperson Mohammad Afzal Parrey, VC-DDC Shazia Jan, DDC member Manzgam, Chowdhary Jameela, BDC Shareef Ahmad Bhat were also present on the occasion.

Later on, the Minister also presided over a cultural programme at Aherbal. She also planted ornamental tree Loro-Petalum and a Chinar sapling there.

The Minister also inaugurated Government T-20 hotel cum restaurant for tourists which has come up at an estimated cost of Rs 3.89 crore.

Later on, the Minister held a meeting with DDC, BDC and members of other PRIs, Presidents of Municipal Committees and other ULB members/councilors.

These members brought forth various demands concerning the development and public welfare in the whole district as well as in their respective areas.

District Development Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police and other district and sectoral officers also attended the session.

During the extensive visit, the Minister also inspected stalls installed by various departments like Agriculture, Horticulture, ICDS, Health, Social Welfare, Handloom/Handicrafts, Industries and Commerce, NRLM, AYUSH, Animal and Sheep Husbandry etc to showcase the schemes, goods and services provided by them. On the occasion, farm machinery was also distributed among beneficiaries.
