J&K police contributing in a big way to promote sports activities: DGP

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police is contributing in a big way to promote the sports activities in Jammu and Kashmir. This was stated by Director General of Police, J&K Dilbag Singh who was the Chief Guest on the occasion of 1st Positive Kashmir Knockout Football Championship match at Synthetic Turf TRC, here this evening.
Vice-Chancellor Kashmir University, Talat Ahmad, ADGP Armed J&K SJM Gillani, Secretary JK Football Association, Fayaz Ahmad Sofi, SSP Srinagar Sandeep Choudhary, mentor of Positive Kashmir (NGO) Bharat Rawat, DDC Vice Chairman Srinagar, Bilal Ahmad Bhat, International Footballer Abdul Majeed Kakroo and a large number of spectators witnessed today’s match.
While speaking to the media, the DGP congratulated the football association of J&K and its associate partners for organizing the event and contributing in promoting the sports activities in UT.
He said that after a long gap of COVID-19 people are coming forward to promote the sports activities and added that Jammu and Kashmir Police has been contributing in a big way to promote football and other sports activities in the UT. He informed that Police Martyrs football championship would be organised in the near future. He said that J&K police has been making all possible efforts to provide employment avenues to the players performing at higher levels and added that some changes are required to be taken in the sports policy so that employment avenues are provided to the sportspersons.
With regard to the J&K police football team, the DGP said that he has received some suggestions for strengthening the team and added that all possible efforts would be made to make it one of the best teams of J&K.
The DGP also extended his good wishes to both teams saying that both the teams are our own teams.
Before the beginning of match players of both teams were introduced to DGP J&K by the organizers. While interacting with the players one by one, the DGP extended his good wishes to them. He, VC Kashmir University Talat Ahmed and other dignitaries were presented mementoes by the organisers on the occasion.
The Championship is being organized by the First Positive Kashmir (NGO) under the aegis of J&K Football Association. Today’s match was played between J&K Police Vs Maharaja Sports Srinagar.
