Indo-Pak armies exchange brief gunfire in Teetwal sector
Karnah (Kupwara): Armies of India and Pakistan exchanged gunfire briefly along Line of Control near Seemari Teetwal Karnah on Sunday morning, official sources said.
“At about 07:15 hours, there was firing of few rounds of RPG, 60mm mortor shells, pika and HMG from across. The army responded in equivalent measure,” they said.
The exchange of fire lasted for around 10 minutes.
A senior police officer confirmed the exchange of gunfire and said that there has been no damage reported in the incident.
This has been first incidence of cross-firing along LoC since February 25, 2021, when both sides renewed their pledge of 2003 understanding on ceasefire along the LoC.
Defence spokesman however said that he had no information hitherto about today’s incident.
