Tribal Affairs Dept invites applications for Post-Matric, Pre-Matric, Graduate Scholarships

Srinagar: The Tribal Affairs Department J&K has issued notification seeking applications from tribal students for awards of Post-Matric Scholarship and Pre-Matric Scholarship for the year 2021-22. The procedure and income slabs have been notified and students have been asked for timely submission of application forms along with requisite documents.

Secretary Tribal Affairs Department, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, informed that notifications inviting applications for scholarships have been issued by the directorate of tribal affairs and efforts shall be made in coordination with all Colleges, Schools, ITIs, Polytechnics and other educational institutions to ensure coverage of 100% students. Department earmarked an outlay of Rs 30 Cr for scholarships.

The post-matric scholarship applications are required to be submitted online by J&K students on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) w.e.f 25th September 2021. Income slab for availing post-matric scholarship is Rs 2.50 Lakh as per Government of India norms already notified. Online submission of forms has to be made at the portal https://scholarships.gov.in. Students have been advised to fill up the Student Registration Form indicating the required particulars and supporting documents. In view of earlier discrepencies noted in application forms leading to delay in disbursement the students have been advised to ensure accurate details Aadhar Number, Bank Account, Mobile Number and Educational institutions. The last date for submission of application on NSP is 31st October 2021.

The department has also issued two separate notifications for Pre-Matric Scholarship. The first notification for Class 9th and 10th issued for 2021-22 has asked the educational institutions for ensuring filling up application forms of all tribal students latest by 15th of November 2021. Department will organise a workshop with CEOs and ZEOs for simplifying the application submission process. The district Chief Education Officers are required to submit the scholarship proposals to Department of Tribal Affairs, Jammu/Srinagar latest by 30th November 2021 following which the disbursement process will be initiated. Students are required to submit two passport size photographs, category certificate, Income certificate/salary certificate of parent/guardian, account details and aadhar number among others.

Director, Tribal Affairs Department, Mushir Ahmed Mirza will supervise overall coordination for timely disbursement of scholarships, Dilshada Akhter, DD Kashmir (0194-2500585) has been designated as Nodal Officer for Kashmir and Kamlesh Rani, DD Jammu (0191-2479198) is Nodal Officer for Jammu. Educational institutions under Higher Education Deptt and School Education Department have been asked to host the notification on respective website for widespread information and ensuring maximum enrolment under the scheme.

Further, Rs 18.00 Cr outlay for pre-matric scholarship for Class I to VIII has been earmarked for which students will submit applications at schools level and funds will be released for DBT in favour of eligible students.
