Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Friday condemned the remarks of Altaf Bukhari and Sajad Lone against NC leadership and 1931 Martyrs as uncouth and a desperate attempt by them to outdo each other to please RSS.

Terming the remarks of Bukhari against the NC leadership and the Martyrs of 1931 as “foul-mouthed and obnoxious”, NC Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said, “It is the same Bukhari who termed NC party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah as the best candidate for the parliamentary seat of Srinagar during the run-up to 2019 national general elections. He is the same man who would come running to JKNC leadership to support him as the joint CM candidate in 2018. Should people believe his previous assertions or the one he made the other day,” adding, “His frustration is quite understandable in wake of his fast-ebbing political space which got exposed in the recently held DDC polls where his party failed to match the hype created by those who don’t understand J&K and its people. His politics of deceit was rejected by the people of J&K.”

“Known for changing goal-posts and ideologies, it is Bukhari who came forth to slaughter the interests of JK people on the altar of his self interests. He hasn’t even spared the revered martyrs of 1931. It seems the best place for him is to go to Nagpur and formally take the membership of RSS. The obnoxious statements of Bukhari against the martyrs of 1931 reveal his real affiliations and ideology. The massacre of 1931 is a chilling reminder of the heroism of our unarmed heroes to whom we owe our dignity, which Bukhari and his likes are determined to put on sale,” he said.

Referring to Sajad Lone’s remarks, NC spokesperson said that Sajad should be the last person to tutor around on political propriety and religiosity. “It is ironic to have him lecture around on political propriety.  It is he who has been hopelessly inconsistent in his ideology. Even since he stepped into politics, people have seen him morph from one state to another. It is he who is answerable to people. His turn over from being a part of PAGD to defending RSS’s presence in Kashmir is known to all and is reflective of his rowing disposition. He has shamelessly taken upon himself to issue religious certificates. However, let me remind him that none of his remarks are taken seriously by people,” he said.
