J&K reports 1,144 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 170 fresh cases of coronavirus on Thursday, taking the infected number of persons to 3,26,480 while no fresh death due to the virus was reported from the Union territory in the past 24 hours, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, 147 were from Kashmir and 23 were from Jammu division of the UT, the officials said.

They said Srinagar district recorded the highest number of 80 cases followed by 22 cases in Baramulla district.

Moreover, 158 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 111 from Kashmir and 47 from Jammu division, officials said.

They also said so far 71.62 percent of population above the age of 18 years has been vaccinated across the Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the officials said, there were 45 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) across Jammu and Kashmir as no fresh case was reported in the UT since last evening.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 3,26,480 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 1,263 are active positive cases across the UT, while as 3,20,806 persons have recovered and 4,411 have died – 2,245 in Kashmir and 2,166 in Jammu division.
