Srinagar: To commemorate 50 years of Indian Victory over Pakistan in the 1971 War, which gave birth to a new nation called “Bangladesh”, a wide range of events were conducted over a period of one week which saw enthusiastic participation of youth, students and ESMs, said PRO (Defence) Srinagar.

“A visit to Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre was organised on 01 Sep 2021. Locals from area surrounding Shalateng garrison were given an opportunity to visit the Regimental Centre. The visit introduced them to the rich history of the JAK LI Regiment and the momentous part it played alongside Kashmiri citizens in the Battle of Shalateng. The joint efforts had thwarted the designs of Pakistan Army and Kabailis in 1947-48,” the PRO (Defence) said.
