Director AP&FWD Kmr visits saffron growing areas of Pampore

Pulwama: Director Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Department (AP&FWD), Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal, today said that the saffron is our identity and the department is committed to revive its glory and explore all the possibilities, opportunities for the development of this sector to its extreme potential.

The Director said this during his visit to the saffron growing areas of Pampore.

On the occasion, Iqbal met a number of saffron growers and farmer delegations and took stock of various activities that are being carried out by the farmers during the present season.

While interacting with the farmers, the Director assured them of every cooperation and technical guidance from the department. He said that all the necessary initiatives have already been taken up by the department for the proper marketing and branding of the saffron produced in Kashmir.

He called upon the concerned officers to adopt a proactive approach in reaching out to the farmers to ensure speedy deliverance of technical guidance so that all the initiatives taken up by the department and the facilities provided to the farmers may prove productive in their socio-economic transformation.

The Director was accompanied by Deputy Director Planning, Mohammad Younis Choudhary, and other officers of the department during the visit.
