Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, on Sunday greeted people on the Urs of Hazrat Syed Ali Aaali Bhalki (RA), Pakharpura.

In a statement issued here, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said the shrine of Hazrat Syed Ali Bhalki (RA) is an epicenter of faith for scores of people across Kashmir. He said the influence of such great men as Syed Bhalki Sahib (RA) on the cultural and social life of Kashmir is immense. “Syed Bhalki (RA) watered the sacred mission of serving humanity. His mission was to offer succor and solace to the suffering masses of Kashmir. He encouraged people to live a life of piety and discipline and stressed that the real devotion of the Almighty was in the service of suffering man.”

“The great saint exhorted people to overcome pride, anger, greed and excessive involvement in worldly affairs.  He had attained the highest stages of spiritual refinement, awakening of self.  May Almighty’s grace be on us and the coming generations; the need of the hour is to imbue teachings of such noble and pious men,” he said.

Meanwhile, Party GS Ali Muhammad Sagar, AGS Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Nasir Aslam Wani, Senior leader Abdul Rahim Rather, MPs Muhammad Akbar Lone, Hassnain Masoodi, Central Zone President Ali Muhammad Dar have also greeted people on the auspicious Urs observance.
