FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Jammu: Strongly pleading the case of unemployed dental surgeons of Jammu and Kashmir, Provincial President National Conference, Devender Singh Rana, today urged the administration to come to their rescue and have the process initiated at least by filling up of the recommended 587 vacancies pending since 2018.

“The claim of the unemployed dental surgeons about their number having crossed 7000 is alarming and needs to be addressed with compassion,” Rana said while interacting with a delegation of the striking J&K Dental Surgeons Association here this afternoon.

The delegation comprising of Dr Rahul Koul, President DSA, Jammu, Dr Manoj Sharma, Advisor DSA, Jammu, Dr. Vipul Misra, Vice President DSA- Jammu, Dr Arun Singh, Vice President DSA-Jammu and Dr Robin Tikoo, General Secretary, DSA- Jammu, expressed anguish that for the past 13 years not a single post of dental surgeon has been advertised through Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission, National Rural Health Mission or under any other centrally sponsored scheme.

The delegation said they have relentlessly been seeking absorption of all unemployed dental surgeons through JKPSC and under other centrally sponsored schemes. They have also been demanding formulation of a policy about the recruitment of dental surgeons every year based on the number of seats in the Union Territory.

The association said that there was immense need for creation of a separate directorate for dentistry to ensure regulated and smooth functioning of this important discipline of medical science.

While acknowledging with gratitude the initiative of the Lieutenant Governor in announcing financial assistance for 400 dental surgeons, the association that the unemployed doctors have been waiting for recruitment process desperately.

Rana shared their anguish and said the issue will be taken up with the concerned administration for tackling this burgeoning problem.
