J&K records 100 new COVID-19; one death

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 100 fresh cases of the coronavirus on Wednesday, taking the cumulative infection count to 3,23,682, while another fatality pushed the death toll to 4,400 in the Union Territory, officials said.

Seventy-four of the fresh cases were from the Kashmir Valley and 26 from Jammu division, the officials said.

They said Srinagar district recorded a maximum of 24 new COVID-19 cases, followed by Ganderbal and Kupwara districts which registered nine infections each while the lone death was reported from the Jammu region.

They also informed that 132 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals 100 from Kashmir and 32 from the Jammu division, even as 99.75 percent of population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across the Jammu and Kashmir so far.

They said one fresh case of mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported in Jammu and Kashmir since Tuesday evening, pushing the tally to 43.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (COVID-19), out of 3,23,682 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 1,125 positive cases across the UT, while 3,18,157 person have recovered and 4,400 have died – 2,240 in Kashmir and 2,160 in Jammu division.
