Protesting casual laborers demanded that the list of those engaged till March 17, 2015 be sent to the Finance and Administrative Departments for scrutiny so that their pending salaries are released without any further delay.

“Our families suffer as our salary is pending for the last seven months, we were earlier receiving wages as per budget provision but the authorities for unknown reasons withheld the same and thus leaving us in a helpless situation,” said Mohammad Amin, President J&KCLUNF.

When contacted Director Fisheries, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, said the salaries of those having genuine engagement orders would be released while others would be deemed as ‘consolidate’.

“We have set up a committee in both Jammu and Kashmir provinces headed by the respective Joint Directors. The committee found all those engaged after 2015 as not genuine while those engaged till 2010 were having genuine engagement orders who were treated accordingly,” he said.
