Srinagar: National Conference on Tuesday said that Member Parliament Hasnain Masoodi met Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Transport and National Highways, who assured him release of Rs 570 crore worth of funds for various road projects in J&K.

According to a party press release issued here, Masoodi and Gadkari discussed various proposals for strengthening road connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir while former seeking minister’s attention to the frequent traffic disruptions on Jammu-Srinagar national highway and its adverse impact on the movement of people and goods, and life in general.

Reiterating his earlier suggestion, Masoodi pitched for an elevated road between Ramban and Banihal so that frequent disruptions due to landslides are avoided. Agreeing with the MP, Gadkari told him that the earlier plan was being given a relook and revised plan at the cost of Rs 3000 crore was being mulled, the press release said.

Masoodi also apprised the minister of the impediments faced by the concerned department in improving road connectivity because of delay in release of Central Road Fund (CRF), following which the minister assured immediate release of Rs 570 crore to Jammu and Kashmir so that all road projects are completed in time.

In the meeting Desan-Kapran tunnel, Wulahama-Tral, Pastun-Khrew roads, Sangam-Lassipora and Lethpora-Pantachowk bypass were also discussed.
