Dr Samoon reviews functioning of private ITIs across J&K

Srinagar: Principal Secretary Skill Development Department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, today chaired a meeting to review the functioning of private Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Skill Development Department, Kuldip Kumar Sepolia, Joint Director SDD Jammu/Kashmir, heads of private run ITIs and other concerned.

At the outset, the Principal Secretary enquired about the trades, training and skill courses offered in all the private ITIs besides the meeting discussed admission process and results of these institutes.

On the occasion, Dr Samoon asked concerned Superintendents and officers of Govt ITIs to inspect all the private ITIs in order to ensure that all facilities are being provided to students.

He asked the heads of the private-run ITIs to hold awareness campaigns and publicize their institutes so that more aspirants would apply for the trades in their institutes.

While reviewing the trades being offered at the institutes, he asked the heads of the ITIs to upgrade further trades in their institutes so that employability would be enhanced as per market requirement for the students.

On employability and job opportunities, Dr Samoon directed the concerned officers to include private-run ITIs during placement drives so that the students trained from private ITIs can also be provided employment.

The meeting was informed that trades like electrician, COPA, fitter, mechanic motor vehicle, welder, stenographer, sewing technology, dress making, front office Assistant, computer hardware and network maintenance, besides draftsman civil, plumber, fashion design technology are being offered at these institutes.
