Samoon discusses SDD recruitment status with SSB chairman

Srinagar: Principal Secretary Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, today held a meeting with J&K Services Selection Board (SSB) Chairman, Khalid Jehangir to discuss the status of recruitment of different non-gazetted posts in the department.

The meeting was also attended by Secretary in SDD, Nazim Zia Khan; Director SDD, Sudarshan Kumar; Joint Directors, Public Law Officers and other officials of the department.

The Principal Secretary asked the Chairman about the status of different posts referred by the department for recruitment from time to time. He urged the Chairman to fill all those vacancies on urgent basis as the department is short of staff. He asked him to fill the vacancies of Instructors at the earliest so that the academics in the institutions does not suffer.

Dr Samoon maintained that merit should be the only principle for recruitment of the quality manpower. He said that the regular faculty is prerequisite for maintenance of standard and quality output.

He directed the officers of the department to complete the updation of recruitment rules so that fresh and professional manpower is infused into the department. He also asked them to include latest and relevant qualifications in the recruitment rules so that people with appropriate qualification and expertise come into the department.

The Chairman informed the meeting that there are two writ petitions going on in the court of law that are being transferred to the Administrative Tribunal. He further revealed that replies in each case are prepared for their speedy disposal.

The meeting was further apprised that there are some 200 non-gazetted and 192 class IV vacancies being under the recruitment for the department and these are shortly going to be filled.

It was made out that after such recruitment the manpower shortage will be tided over to a larger extent.
