Srinagar: A young Jammu Engineering graduate from the Akhnoor region recently got praise from LG, Manoj Sinha for his valuable suggestions regarding development of his home town as a tourist destination.

Shubam Dogra admits that mentioning of his name by the LG during the recent episode of ‘Awaam ki Awaaz’ came as a surprise for him. He concedes that he was not expecting that his suggestions would be considered but found the administration highly receptive and encouraging.

“Now I am hopeful that voice of common people reaches to the top and each suggestion is valued and suitable action is taken in that direction,” Shubam reacts on hearing his name featuring in the 4th episode of LG’s public outreach programme ‘Awaam ki Awaaz’.

Shubam says that Akhnoor can be developed into heritage town having history dating back to Mahabharta period only if proper infrastructure is raised.

He suggests development of a tourism circuit from Coronation site at Jeo Pota ghat – Akhnoor fort-Ancient Pandav Cave via Parshuram temple going ahead to Gurudwara Baba Sundar Singh and ending at Harappan Buddhist site.

He further demands that the Fort should be renovated from inside and outside, installation of light & sound show with beautification of Ghats, Walkway and bypass road from Jeo Pota ghat to Harappan site.

Shubam has also asked for development of Water Sports which can be introduced along with water and amusement park for the children here.

Shubam exhorts that it would help in providing job opportunities to local youth. He says that it would help to reduce the problem of drug addiction besides boosting the local economy.
