J&K records 137 COVID-19 cases, one fatality

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 137 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday, taking its infection tally to 3,21,344, while the death toll rose to 4,378 as one fatality was reported from Jammu division in a span of 24 hours, officials said.

Seventy-nine cases were reported from Kashmir and 58 from Jammu division of the union territory, they said.

The officials said Srinagar recorded the highest number of 26 new cases, followed by Baramulla district with 15.

They said 109 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals including 76 from Kashmir and 33 from Jammu division during the past 24 hours.

Officials also said 99.44 percent of population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across Jammu and Kashmir so far.

There were 35 confirmed cases of Mucormycosis (black fungus) in the union territory at present, the officials added.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus, out of 3,21,344 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 1,171 active positive cases across J&K, while as 3,15,795 have recovered and 4,378 have died – 2,236 in Kashmir and 2,142 in Jammu division.
