CBI files cases against 2 pvt firms, others for illegal export of shawls
Srinagar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday said it has registered two separate cases against two private firms and others on the allegations of illegal export of shawls.
“Cases have been registered on the allegations of illegal export of 32 (26+6) shawls containing Guard hair of Tibetan antelope (Shahtoosh). The export of such wildlife material is prohibited under the provisions of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972,” CBI said in a statement.
“Searches were conducted in the premises of both the firms in New Delhi and Srinagar which led to recovery of four shawls and incriminating documents,” it said, adding that investigation of both the cases is in progress. (With inputs from KNO)
