J&K records 160 fresh Covid cases, one death

Srinagar, Jul 28: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 160 fresh coronavirus cases on Wednesday, taking the infection tally to 3,21,066 while the death toll rose to 4,376 as one more fatality was reported from Jammu division in the last 24 hours, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 100 were from Kashmir and 60 were from the Jammu region, they said.

Srinagar recorded the highest of 42 cases, followed by 20 in Baramulla district.

The number of active cases again rose slightly to 1,139 in the Union Territory, while 3,15,511 patients have recovered so far, including 144 patients who have been discharged from various hospitals in the past 24 hours. This included 101 persons from Kashmir and 43 from Jammu division, the officials said.

Meanwhile, the officials said there were 35 confirmed cases of Mucormycosis (black fungus) in the Union Territory as no fresh case was reported since last evening.

They also said 99.38 percent of the population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across Jammu and Kashmir so far.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 3,21,026 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 1,139 are active positive cases in J&K,  while 3,15,511 persons have recovered and 4,376 have died – 2,236 in Kashmir and 2,140 in Jammu division.
