Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Thursday expressed dismay over the inaction of the DC Budgam to act on the no-confidence motion proposed by the 10 of its members against the incumbent DDC Chairman Budgam, calling the prejudiced conduct of the concerned official undemocratic.

In a statement issued here, party spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said, “Resolution of vote of no confidence was proposed by incumbent vice Chairman which was supported by 10 duly elected DDC members of Budgam. The resolution was presented to DDC Budgam on 16 July with physical appearance of all the members apprising the DC about the misconduct and non-seriousness of the DDC Chairman. Unfortunately, no action was taken on our legitimate demands.”

While accusing the administration playing favorites with the incumbent DDC Nazir Ahmed Khan he said, “ The incumbent chairman has a backing of 2-3 DDC members while a no confidence motion against him by 10 DDC members is gathering dust in DC office,” adding, “Ideally the concerned competent authority should have immediately admitted the motion pushed by the members on valid reasons, as the concerned officer is duty bound to set the whole process in motion immediately upon receiving notice of the said motion.”

Appealing to the LG to ensure that DC Budgam should live up to his constitutional duty, Imran said, “Administration should stop playing favorites to few and safeguard democracy in Budgam.”
