Srinagar: Director General of Police J&K, Dilbag Singh, has sanctioned over Rs nine lakh as special relief in favour of 184 police personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police who had got infected by the 2nd wave of pandemic COVID-19 in the latest order.

“Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the J&K police personnel have been working day in and day out in implementing the government directives to check the spread of COVID-19. Despite precautionary measures, many policemen on ground are contracting the disease and getting infected. To provide them some financial assistance the DGP, J&K sanctioned the relief of Rupees nine lakh twenty thousand in favour 184 COVID-19 affected police personnel, in the latest order of COVID relief issued today,” said a police spokesperson.

“The amount has been sanctioned out of the Police Pariwar Fund through an order issued by the police headquarters today. Under these orders, Rs 5,000 each has been sanctioned in favour of these affected police personnel. The move is part of the assistance provided by the Police Department to personnel affected by COVID-19, since the outbreak of the pandemic last year,” the spokesperson said.

“Worth to mention here that Police Headquarters has sanctioned special relief of over Rupees 1.20 crore in favour of 2405 COVID-19 affected police personnel since the outbreak of pandemic,” he said.

“Vide an order today 184 personnel have been granted special assistance. Among them, 03 each are posted in PCR Kashmir & CID CI Kashmir, 05 each are posted in district Srinagar and Crime Hqrs. J&K, 02 each are posted in district Doda, DIG IR Kashmir, district Kulgam & IRP 2nd Bn., 06 are posted in district Baramulla, 12 each are posted in JKAP 12th Bn. and Police District Awantipora, 10 are posted in JKAP 5th Bn., 36 are posted in district Ganderbal and Reasi, 32 are posted in SSG J&K, 11 are posted in district Anantnag and 01 each in PHQ, JKAP 4th Bn., JKAP 9th Bn., Telecom Kashmir, and DIG U/R range,” he added.
