Budgam: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmad Miza, today cautioned the public about the spike noticed in some areas of the district consequently declaring new seven areas as Covid-19 Micro Containment Zones (MCZs).

The DC said this while briefing the media on the current Covid scenario in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC informed that there are 51 Active positive cases in the district as on date. He said the positivity rate at present is below 0.5 percent.

Regarding Vaccination, the DC said that the district has achieved 100 percent vaccination target of 45 and above age group. And with regard to the vaccination status of the 18 to 44 years category, he informed that the vaccination drive is going on and the public in this age category group is requested to come forward and get vaccinated at an earliest.

The DC emphasized upon massive participation in vaccination drives to stop spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

He once again appealed to all to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour, all mandated COVID-19 SOPs and avoid unnecessary gatherings particularly in congested places. He added that this will eventually help prevent any kind of new surge in positive Covid-19 cases in the district.

The DC emphasized that a bit of complacency has been noticed with some people not wearing face masks which creates a potential threat of spreading Covid-19 infection, such complacency is unreasonable and the public should adhere to Covid Appropriate Behaviour strictly.

The DC further stressed that the next three months are going to be crucial to avert the looming threat of 3rd wave of Covid-19 and in this regard, he expected self discipline and an element of seriousness is displayed by the public in the district.
