One more death, 221 new COVID cases recorded in J&K

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 221 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, taking the cumulative infection tally to 3,19,576, while one more fatality took the death toll to 4,362, officials said.

Of the new cases, 118 were from the Kashmir Valley and 103 from the Jammu division, they said.

Srinagar district recorded the highest 40 cases followed by 19 each in Jammu and Pulwama districts. While 10 districts had cases in double digits, the remaining 10 had new cases in single digits, it said.

The death toll in the union territory rose to 4,362 as one more death from Jammu region was reported in the past 24 hours, they said.

Moreover, 208 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals including 138 from Kashmir and 70 from Jammu division, they said, adding that there were 33 confirmed cases of Mucormycosis (black fungus) in the union territory as one more case was reported since last evening.

Besides this, 99.15 percent of population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across the Jammu and Kashmir, they said.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (COVID-19), out of 3,19,576 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 2,116 are active positive cases across J&K while as 3,13,098 persons have recovered and 4,362 have died 2,231 in Kashmir and 2,131 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 1,09,06,400 test results available, 1,05,86,824 samples have tested as negative till today.

Till date 26,13,283 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 9,356 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 2,116 in isolation and 2,98,740 in home surveillance while as 22,98,709 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin added.
