Srinagar: Daily Wagers and Vocational Laborers of the Jal Shakti department Saturday staged a protest against the incumbent Chief Engineer’s alleged reluctance to release their salaries.

The protesting daily wagers and vocational laborers under the banner of PHE Employees Joint Action Committee gathered at Press Enclave and staged a protest against delay in releasing their salaries.

They said that their salaries have not been released yet as the incumbent Chief Engineer of the Jal Shakti department is acting as a “stumbling block”. The protesting employees appealed to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to seek an explanation from him for withholding their salary.

“Eid is around the corner and our salaries have been put on hold without any reason by the Chief Engineer, while our salaries are released on 20th of every month but we don’t know why the same has not been released till now,” they added.

The protesters also appealed to the LG administration to implement Minimum Wages Act in Jammu and Kashmir and also consider regularization of their services.
