J&K records 143 fresh COVID-19 cases, one more death

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday recorded 143 fresh coronavirus cases that took the cumulative infection tally to 3,18,991 while one more fatality pushed the death toll to 4,358, officials said.

As many as 92 fresh cases were reported from the Kashmir division of the union territory and 51 from the Jammu division, they said.

Srinagar district recorded the highest number of cases at 41, followed by 17 in Baramulla. Fifteen districts reported fresh cases in single digits and the remaining three districts did not report any new infections, the officials said.

The single death in the past 24 hours was reported from Jammu division, they said, adding 416 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals, including 226 from Jammu Division and 190from Kashmir Division.

There are 31 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the union territory. No fresh case was reported the previous day, they said.

Officials also said 98.15 percent of population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across the Jammu and Kashmir so far.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 3,18,991 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 2,435 are active positive across the UT, while as 3,12,198 have recovered and 4,358 persons have died – 2,231 in Kashmir and 2,127 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 1,07,27,100 test results available, 1,04,08,109 samples have tested as negative till today.

Till date 25,76,169 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 9,231 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 2,435 in isolation and 2,75,933 in home surveillance while as 22,84,212 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
