Director Agriculture Kashmir convenes high-level meetings

Srinagar: To discuss the performance, development and set future targets and objectives under CAPEX and CSSs, the Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today convened high level meetings of district Kulgam and Shopian.

The meeting held threadbare discussion on progress under Soil Health Card scheme, KCC/ PM-KISSAN/ PM-KMY, registration of new FPOs vis-à-vis submission of DPRs, status of Kharif crops 2021 and implementation of road map adopted for supply of quality pesticides in the twin districts.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director emphasized upon the Chief Agriculture Officers (CAOs) to compile the Basic Agriculture Data of their respective districts within the shortest possible time, so that the same can be used for the benefit of marginal as well as progressive farmers while devising future programmes.

He stressed upon the CAOs to strengthen the Soil Testing laboratories of their districts and achieve the cent percent target of soil testing under Soil Health Card Scheme.

The Director laid a special stress on bringing Hirpora village of Kulgam district on Agri Tourism, as this area has a lot of potential with regard to the agro climatic conditions, which in long run will help in bringing visitors to the villages and ultimately boost the economy of the area.

Later, the Director inspected various Hi-tech poly green houses and farmers fields of Shopian and Kulgam.

The Director was accompanied by Joint Director Agriculture Extension Shahid Iqbal and other senior officers of the Department.
