Union Secy Dept of Scientific & Industrial Research calls on LG

Srinagar: Secretary Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, GoI, Dr. Shekhar C Mande, today called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhavan here.

Dr. Mande who is also the Director General, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research discussed with the Lt Governor a variety of Scientific and technological solutions those can be brought to UT of J&K so that people can be benefitted from the technology-led solutions.

Discussions also took place on several wide-ranging issues pertaining to conservation of environment and water bodies, employment generation, and productive utilization of human resources of the region.

He apprised the Lt Governor about CSIR Aroma Mission aimed at development of superior aroma crop varieties, their agro-technologies, and assessment of their suitability for the large scale cultivation in specific agro-climatic regions which would have great impact on the rural economy.

The Lt Governor while appreciating the proposals put forth by Dr. Mande, asked him to emphasize on scientific and industrial training of the talented youths of J&K.

After having a detailed discussion on the proposals with Dr. Mande, the Lt Governor desired that the information with regards to all the readily available technologies of CSIR may be shared with the J&K UT Government to have further brainstorming to explore possibilities of their implementation.

The Secretary DSIR was accompanied by Director CSIR-IIIM, Jammu, Dr. Srinivasa Reddy.
