Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Friday recorded 498 fresh Covid cases, which took the tally to 3,13,974, while seven more deaths pushed the toll to 4,291 in the Union Territory, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 289 were from the Kashmir Valley and 209 were from the Jammu division of the UT, the officials said.

They said Reasi district recorded the highest 96 cases followed by 82 in Srinagar district.

The death toll in the union territory rose to 4,291 as seven patients – five from Jammu division and two from Kashmir Valley — died in the past 24 hours, they said.

The officials said there were 28 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the union territory as one fresh case was reported since last evening.

Moreover, 871 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals, including 537 from Kashmir and 334 from Jammu division, during past 24 hours.

The officials also said 81.00 percent of population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across the Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 3,13,974 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 6,157 active positive cases across J&K, while 3,03,526 have recovered and 4,291 have died — 2199 in Kashmir Valley and 2092 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 97,27,679 test results available, 94,13,705 samples have tested negative till 25th June, 2021.

Till date, 23,77,154 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 23,382 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 6,157 in isolation and 2,11,996 in home surveillance while 21,31,328 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
