Train services to resume from July 1 with 50% capacity
Srinagar: Authorities on Wednesday extended till June 30 the suspension of train services from Banihal to Baramulla and vice versa in Kashmir Valley.
However, they said that from July 1 onwards, train services from Banihal-Baramulla and vice versa shall be allowed with 50% capacity.
Official sources informed GNS that railway authorities have taken the decision on the request by the J&K administration and have subsequently informed the field agencies about it.
On May 10, the authorities suspended the services In view of the covid-19 situation in Kashmir Valley and as per the guidelines and SOPs issued by the government. Later it was extended from time to time.
The decision had followed a huge rush of passengers at stations amid a continuing increase in the number of Covid cases. (GNS)
