SRINAGAR: Principal Secretary Housing & Urban Development Department (H&UDD), Dheeraj Gupta today discussed Action Plan for the year 2021-22 under Capex Budget for the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) Kashmir with heads of ULBs at a meeting here.

The meeting was attended by Director ULB Kashmir, Ms. Mathora Masoom; Chairman Coordination Committee ULB Kashmir, Muhammad Iqbal, Presidents of Municipal Councils/Committees, Vice-President MCs, and other concerned officers of ULB Department Kashmir.

At the outset, the Principal Secretary was informed about the status of works being taken under the My Town My Pride (MTM P) Programme in Kashmir division.

During the presentation, Director ULB Kashmir informed the meeting that Rs 25 crore under CAPEX Budget has been approved under MTMP for the year 2021-22 during which 89 works were identified, of which 53 were tendered out and 17 works are nearing completion.

While discussing the Action Plan for the year 2021-22 under Capex Budget (Urban Dev. Sector), it was given out that Rs 22.85 crore stands approved for works like IDMT (Lanes/Drains/Protection Bund); development of bus terminals (addas), drainage works, etc.

Director ULB Kashmir also informed the meeting that a total of 304 works have been identified with a fund allocation of Rs 5.25 crore for Municipal Councils/Committees of Kashmir Division under Integrated Development of Medium Towns (IDMT) 2021-22 (Developmental works).

Similarly, for the construction of bus terminals in 6 MCs, a proposed CAPEX Budget for the ensuing year is Rs 7.35 crore and for drainage works is Rs 8 crore for the financial year 2021-22.

She also apprised the meeting that an additional Rs 165 crore is proposed for new major projects and would be taken up for which 224 works have been identified under Capex Budget (FC Grants) for Municipal Councils/Committees of Kashmir Division (Developmental works) for the year 2021-22.

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal Secretary said that  the region is on the path of development and the impact of developmental works is enormous on the ground.

The Principal Secretary impressed upon the heads of MCs and officers alike to try to resolve all pending issues related to development so that projects and works are taken forward for completion in a speedy manner.

He said that numerous issues and problems have been resolved over the past two years and the remaining issues would be sorted out soon.

He asked the Director ULB Kashmir to draft a list of issues in every MC to be taken up for redressal with the concerned Deputy Commissioner of that Council or Committee.
