Srinagar: In a bid to help people overcome vaccine hesitancy, Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) has launched an online poster campaign to encourage people to shun hesitancy and get jabs to save themselves and others from contracting the deadly COVID-19 virus.

On the directions of its incarcerated patron Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, MMU in order to spread awareness about the importance of vaccination has started a campaign through posters and social media so that the people realise the seriousness of the issue and avoid any kind of carelessness in this regard, the socio-religious amalgam said in a statement here.

As per the MMU decision, tomorrow in their Friday sermons, the Imams and Khateebs (prayer leaders and preachers) have been asked to sensitise people about the importance of Covid vaccination.

“They will make it clear to people that getting vaccinated is neither against the teachings of Islam nor does any Shariah ruling prevent Muslims from taking vaccine against a disease; and that Islam encourages and even stresses on taking precautionary measures in matters concerning the health and safety of human-beings,” the MMU statement said.
