J&K records 715 fresh coronavirus cases, 10 deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday recorded 715 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of infected persons to 3,08,726, while 10 deaths took the toll to 4,205, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 497 were from Kashmir Valley and 218 were from Jammu division of the Union Territory, the officials said.

They said Srinagar district recorded the highest of 132 cases, followed by 65 in Kupwara district.

The death toll in the UT due to the pandemic rose to 4,205 after 10 COVID-19 patients – six from Jammu division and four from Kashmir Valley — died in the past 24 hours, the officials said.

They also said that during this period, 1830 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals. This includes 1188 from Kashmir and 642 persons from Jammu division.

Meanwhile, the officials said there were 21 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the UT as one fresh case was reported since Monday evening.

They said 76.80 percent of population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across the Jammu and Kashmir so far.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 3,08,726 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 12,407 are active positive cases across J&K,  while 2,92,114 persons have recovered and 4,205 have died — 2158 in Kashmir and 2047 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 92,58,141 test results available thus far, 89,49,415 samples have tested negative till 15th June, 2021.

Till date 22,54,586 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 55,817 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 12,407 in isolation and 1,59,202 in home surveillance while 20,22,955 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
