Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday recorded 1,801 fresh COVID-19 cases, raising the tally to 2,95,879, while 29 more deaths pushed the fatality count to 3,992 in the union territory, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, 1,247 were from the Kashmir Valley and 554 from the Jammu division, they said.

The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest of 329 cases, followed by 194 in Budgam district and 153 in Jammu district.

The death toll in the union territory rose to 3,992 as 24 patients — 15 from Jammu division and 14 from Kashmir Valley — died of the virus in the past 24 hours, the officials said.

They also said 2694 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals during this period. This includes 1808 from Kashmir and 886 from Jammu division.

Officials also said there were 13 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the union territory, adding one fresh case was reported since Wednesday evening.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 2,95,879 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 30,657 are active positive cases in J&K while 2,61,230 have recovered and 3,992 have died — 2045 in Kashmir and  1947in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 86,97,398 test results available, 84,01,519 samples have tested negative till June 03, 2021.

Till date 21,13,730 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 81,418 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 30,657 in isolation and 1,45,675 in home surveillance while 18,51,988 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
